The Scindia dynasty played an important role in the establishment ofthe Church. A Filose clan was an important factor. Col. John Baptist Filose builtthe Church, to be the burial place of the said clan. Themission originally belonged to the Archdiocese of Agra. In 1954 it was acceded tothe diocese of Jhansi, and in 1999 it became the Cathedral parish of the dioceseof Gwalior. The old presbytery was pulled down and the present one was put upin 1994. The first Bishop Joseph Kaithathara stayed here from 1999 to 2001.Recent Introduction of Eucharist adoration on daily base from 10 am to 12 pm at Cathedral is a great blessing on the parishioners and the Diocese.
