 Education is one of the most powerful  instruments for breaking the cycle of poverty.  In many economically disadvantaged families,  girls at times boys also face serious barriers to education because  of  poverty,  family  pressures,  social  circumstances and lack of resources. In some  cases, girls are considered an economic burden  and are forced to discontinue their education  or enter marriage at a very young age.  

 The Diocese therefore initiated 'Asha Kiran' – with the conviction that  every girl deserves the opportunity to study,  dream and build their own future.  The programme is open to poor and vulnerable  girls irrespective of religion, caste or  community.  

 Widows and single women from poor families  often face severe economic challenges, particularly  when they have children to support.  Project Bakari is a simple but sustainable  livelihood initiative designed especially for  widows and economically vulnerable families.  

 a deserving widow or poor family without  requiring an upfront payment.  When the goat gives birth to a kid, the beneficiary  returns one goat/kid to the project. That goat is  then given to another deserving family.  In this way, one goat can gradually create a  chain of livelihood opportunities for several  families.
