Bishop Joseph Thykkattil was born on May, 31, 1952 at Enamakkal in Kerala. He joined St. Lawrence Minor Seminary, Agra, and then studied at St. Joseph’s Regional Major Seminary, Allahabad. He was ordained priest on 25 April, 1988. He served the archdiocese of Agra as vice-principal of St. Peter’s College, Agra, (1988-1990); as parish priest of Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Agra (1990-1999); as parish priest at St. Mary’s in Noida (1999-2002); as rector of St. Lawrence Minor Seminary, Agra (2002-2009); as parish priest of Sacred Heart Church, Mathura and principle of Alpha School (2009-2012); as vicar general of the archdiocese of Agra and as parish priest of Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Agra (2012-2018) as parish priest at St. Peter’s Church, Bharatpur (2018-2019). On 31st May, 2019 Pope Francis appointed him as the Bishop of the diocese of Gwalior and consecrated and installed on 04th August 2019.
Bishop Joseph Kaithathara was born on June 22, 1939 at Gothuruthi in Kerala. After his studies at Rome He was ordained priest in Rome on Dec. 21, 1963. Later, he obtained a Doctorate in Canon Law from the same college. He left Rome in September 1972 to work in Weichs, Southern Germany till June 1973. He came back to Jhansi on July 4, 1973 and served as a professor at St. Joseph's Seminary, Allahabad, till May 1987. He was simultaneously appointed, Prefect of students, Dean of Studies and Minister of the House. In July 1987 he was entrusted with the Diocesan pastoral ministry at St. Anthony's Cathedral, Jhansi. From July 1991 up to May 1996 he was the Rector of St. Joseph Seminary, Allahabad. In September 1996 he was appointed Parish Priest of St. John the Baptist Church Lashkar, Gwalior. On Feb. 9, 1999 the Diocese of Gwalior was erected and he was appointed it's first Bishop on the same day. He retired on 18 Oct, 2016.
Bishop Thomas Thennatt SAC, the first Indian Pallotine to become a Bishop was born on November 26, 1953, at Koodallor in Kerala. After his priestly studies at Nagpur and Bangaloor he was ordained a priest in 1978. He obtained a Masters degree in pastoral theology from Papal Seminary, Pune, India. He began his priestly duties as assistant parish priest at St. Vincent Pallotti Parish of Amravati in Guntur diocese for a year in 1979. He served as the parish priest of St. Antony Church, Mudfort under Hyderabad archdiocese for three years from 1984. He then served as the secretary of the archdiocesan commissions of youth and family and laity. In 1991 he moved to Indore diocese as the parish priest of St. Theresa Church of Pushpanagar and director for laity and family and Small Christian Communities. Two years later, he was appointed as regional director for laity and family Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, a post he held for five years. He became Rector at Bhopal Regional Theologate in 1998. 18th October 2017 Pope Francis appointed him as the new bishop of Gwalior. God never waits to call his dear ones to his vineyard. On 14th December 2018 he met with a road accident and was called to his eternal reward.
